Kevin Curtis, Owner

DSC_0014Kevin started playing music at the age of 12 playing trumpet in the middle school band program. Kevin’s father received a banjo for Christmas that same year, which further piqued Kevin’s musical interests. When his father noticed Kevin’s interest, he bought him an inexpensive guitar and some lessons. After high school, Kevin applied at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts where he received a scholarship in jazz guitar studies. He also  furthered his education at Cedar Valley College in Lancaster, TX under the direction of Chris Derose, one of Dallas’ first call guitarists. Kevin has  also been under the instruction of Chuck Pangburn, two time Grammy Award winner and former director of guitar studies at Booker T. Washington Arts Magnet school in Dallas, Texas.

Kevin has owned his own music teaching studio, Troubador Music, for the last 15 years. Currently located in Terrell, TX, Kevin is actively involved in the community through the Terrell Chamber of Commerce, Terrell Small Business Association and the City of Terrell, coordinating music for events such as the annual Art Walks, Small Business Weekend and Terrell Heritage Jubilee. He regularly performs in the Terrell and Dallas areas as a freelance musician playing in diverse musical groups showcasing Jazz, Blues, Dixieland, Pop, Country, etc. Kevin is a strong supporter of live music and local talent. He has throughout the years put together numerous student bands, finding and sometimes creating places for them to play.  Check out our events page to see where Kevin and the artists we support, are playing next.
